If you are struggling with acne, sensitivity, signs of ageing or another ongoing skin concern, you may be looking for more than a relaxing facial. As a skin specialist in Urmston, I focus on understanding what is happening with your skin, the factors that may be influencing it and the professional treatments or longer-term plan that could help.
The Skin Sanctuary is a personal, relaxing skin clinic in Urmston built around one simple idea: fixing concerns, not just carrying out services. I combine advanced treatments, modern equipment, professional homecare guidance and an individual approach to help clients work towards healthier, more confident skin.
The Skin Sanctuary was created to offer something different from a traditional beauty salon. My focus is specifically on skin, with a calm, one-to-one environment where clients can talk openly about their concerns and receive advice based on their individual skin rather than choosing a treatment from a generic menu.
I want every appointment to feel personal, supportive and unhurried. Treatments can still be relaxing, but there is always a reason behind what I recommend. The aim is to understand your concerns, explain your options clearly and build a plan that supports meaningful, long-term improvement.
That may involve advanced skin treatments, professional homecare, nutritional support or simply taking the time to understand what your skin needs before deciding on the next step.
My interest in skin health is personal as well as professional.
When I was younger, I experienced sensitive and eczema-prone skin. At the age of 20, I was diagnosed with PCOS and went on to struggle with acne and other associated symptoms. Like many people dealing with persistent skin concerns, I tried a wide range of approaches over the years.
Those experiences made me want to understand more about why skin behaves the way it does, including the effects of hormones, gut health, lifestyle, and the ingredients used in skincare.
That curiosity eventually became a professional direction. After spending 15 years working as a teacher, I retrained in advanced skin treatments so I could combine my interest in health and wellbeing with a more structured, evidence-informed approach to helping people with their skin.
Having experienced difficult skin myself also means I understand that concerns such as acne can affect much more than appearance. They can be frustrating, complicated and slow to improve, which is why I believe in realistic advice rather than promising overnight results.
Before moving into the skin industry, I spent 15 years as a teacher. That background continues to shape the way I work with clients today.
Alongside my skin qualifications, I hold a teaching qualification and a degree in Disability Studies. My experience in education has helped me develop a patient, supportive communication style, while my understanding of disability and neurodiversity helps me recognise that different clients may need different levels of explanation, reassurance or adjustment.
I welcome all people into The Skin Sanctuary and aim to provide an inclusive environment. If somebody feels nervous about treatment, becomes overwhelmed easily or simply wants things explained more gradually, I can adapt the experience to help them feel more comfortable.
For me, a consultation is not about rushing somebody towards a treatment. It is about making sure they understand their skin, their options and what to expect.
Professional training and ongoing education are an important part of how I work. My current skincare and aesthetic qualifications include:
A Level 3 qualification forming part of my professional training in aesthetic therapies.
Advanced Level 4 training in professional skin needling.
Professional Level 4 training in dermaplaning.
Professional Level 4 training in chemical peel treatments.
I am trained and accredited to work with AlumierMD professional skincare and peels, with ongoing training to continue developing my knowledge of professional products, ingredients and treatment protocols.
I am trained to use Dermalux Flex phototherapy and undertake continuing professional development relating to Dermalux treatments.
I undertake ongoing CPD relating to SkinPen professional microneedling and its treatment protocols.
I complete ongoing training with the Advanced Nutrition Programme, supporting my interest in how nutrition and wider lifestyle factors may relate to skin health.
I hold comprehensive professional and treatment insurance and follow the procedures required by the local council.
The Skin Sanctuary is specifically focused on skin.
I do not offer waxing, nails or a broad menu of unrelated beauty services. My work centres on understanding skin concerns and using appropriate professional treatments to help improve them.
That distinction matters because I am not simply offering a facial for relaxation.
Treatments can absolutely feel calm and enjoyable, but the purpose goes deeper. I work with clients who want to address real concerns and make changes that can support the skin over the longer term.
My approach is based around:
If I do not believe a particular treatment is right for your skin, I would rather explain that than carry out a treatment simply because it was requested.
Your safety and comfort are central to every appointment.
I am fully insured for the treatments I provide and follow the procedures set out by the local council. Appropriate consultation and assessment take place before treatment so that your skin, relevant health information and treatment suitability can be considered.
I also continue developing my knowledge through CPD with Dermalux and SkinPen, alongside ongoing training with AlumierMD and the Advanced Nutrition Programme.
This commitment to ongoing learning means my approach does not stop once a qualification has been completed. Professional skincare develops continuously, and I believe my knowledge should do the same.
No two clients experience appointments in exactly the same way.
My background in teaching and Disability Studies has given me a particular understanding of communication, additional needs and neurodiversity. Where appropriate, I can put measures in place to help somebody ease into a treatment rather than expecting every client to adapt to the same appointment format.
That might simply mean taking more time to explain what will happen, giving somebody space to ask questions or making the process feel more predictable before treatment begins.
The Skin Sanctuary welcomes all clients, and my aim is to provide an environment where you can feel listened to, respected and comfortable discussing your skin.
My aim is simple: to help clients understand their skin and work towards results that feel meaningful to them.
That means looking beyond one-off appointments where appropriate and considering how professional treatments, homecare, lifestyle and ongoing support may work together.
I believe healthy-looking skin is a process rather than a single treatment. My role is to help you understand that process, make informed choices and build a plan that suits your skin and your goals.
That philosophy is also why The Skin Sanctuary focuses specifically on skin concerns rather than operating as a general beauty salon.
The clinic is a purpose-built garden retreat, fully insulated, climate-controlled and styled to evoke calm, comfort and quiet luxury.
From the moment you arrive, the aim is for the experience to feel different from a busy salon. The space is private and personal, creating a serene environment where professional skin treatments can sit alongside the sense of calm that originally inspired The Skin Sanctuary.
It is a place where science meets indulgence, without losing sight of the reason you came: to understand and improve your skin.

The products used on my sensitive skin were well chosen causing no irritation. I was also given an LED session after my treatment to relieve any sensitivity.
